| Subject: ORDER OF PANENTHEISTIC INTEGRAL SPIRITUALITY Wed Jul 25, 2007 5:22 pm | |
| I just ran across this site. It looks like there might be some interesting stuff there... http://groups.msn.com/opis/practices.msnw - Quote :
- Our philosophy is founded in PRACTICE, not in abstract belief. It is about something TO DO with life, not just something TO BELIEVE about it.
Our philosophy holds that long-term commitment to certain integral practices leads to a progressive creative transformation, strengthening, and advancement of the condition of the entire human being in an integral fashion, including mind, body, heart, soul and spirit.
OPIS is non-sectarian, but not anti-religious. We welcome members of diverse faith traditions, and we respect and appreciate discussion of OPIS practices from diverse spiritual perspectives. We respect an inclusive approach that draws upon the wisdom found in diverse traditions.
We believe that OPIS practices may be used by people of almost all religions without violating or contradicting their beliefs. We regard our chosen practices as sacred disciplines that aid us in realization of our full potential as individuals, as a group, and as members of society. We believe these practices help us become all we can be in mind, body, heart, soul and spirit.
We have an open-minded, open-ended, continually evolving, inclusive, non-dogmatic, holistic spiritual philosophy that welcomes theists, atheists and agnostics alike to explore spirituality in an integral fashion through our chosen practices. We regard “spirit” as the “essence of being,” at any level from deity to the basic elements of nature. For this reason, we believe that our approach to spirituality is valid for all people, regardless of their views on the existence or nature of God.
We gently embrace, support, and encourage a generally panentheistic theological view, but we do not exclude from membership those who disagree with it, or are undecided about it. Rather, we let each individual decide for themselves the degree to which they can or will embrace it.
We believe that through inclusivity, tolerance, acceptance, lovingkindness, compassion, education and charity, rather than through dogmatic exclusivity, we attract and develop a membership that supports our spiritual philosophy and practices. We regard the aforementioned virtues as practices for us as individuals and as a group. They are practices that none of us have perfected, either as individuals or as a group, but all of us should pursue, develop and encourage in each other as much as possible.
We welcome participation by all types of people, regardless of age, gender, color, ethnicity, lifestyle, habit, personal circumstance, or any apparent, so-called dysfunction or disability. We require only peaceful behavior and an open-minded willingness to learn and apply our philosophy and practices.
