Quote :
The hot substance and the cold form what we might call a hot-cold continuum, a single entity.

Quote :
Things which are put together are both whole and not whole, brought together and taken apart, in harmony and out of harmony; one thing arises from all things, and all things arise from one thing.

Quote :
God is day and night, winter and summer, war and peace, fullness and hunger; he changes the way fire does when mixed with spices and is named according to each spice.

Quote :
On those who step in the same river, different and different waters flow...

Quote :
... the two natures are indivisible; the nature, I mean, of the reasoning power in us, and of the divine Word [logos] above us; but though they are indivisible themselves, they divide an innumerable multitude of other things.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

Life Bestowed

(dedicated to all those who have lost a dear oneā€¦)

Tunneling through darkness embracing the light,
Thunderous cry amidst tears of rapture,
A start of pilgrimage into the night,
Another journey in search of nature,

Days will pass and years will follow,
As life begets life and seeds are sown,
Joys and sorrows will be part of tomorrow,
Eventually life will unfold on its own,

But as the daylight succumbs to darkness,
And as the Stars exhaust their radiance,
Life bestowed returns to blankness,
The Law of Existence knows no defiance,

And when the time to return is near,
While sadness grips and anguish reigns,
It is but human to shed a tear,
The light of Love comforts the pains,

But though the daylight succumbs to darkness,
And though the Stars exhaust their radiance,
Life bestowed will always be boundless,
The Law of Existence knows no defiance.

Kurt Kawhol

My opinion on the origin of life is:

The Intelligent Designer proclaims

I am the Intelligent Designer;
I am what mankind has decided to call God.
I did not come from nowhere.
I play no magic tricks on man.
I did not create the earth by casting spells.
I had a humble beginning the same as man;
My beginning was at the dawn of spirituality.
My wisdom grows as more spirits unite
After the cessation of life after much physical strife.
Throughout time I have been named God,
Allah, Jehovah, The Great Spirit, and many more.
I do not judge man for his vanity or naivety
To be the one who claims to please me the most.
I am easy to please. I require very little.
I only want you to do what is best for mankind.
I will bless you and wish you well.
I will inspire your mind and you will
Accomplish the unfathomable.
I require no worship. I need nothing from man.
I am self-sufficient. I am spirit.

Develop your spirit wisely, the best that you can.
Live your life for the betterment of man.
Your spirit will soon be with me and then
Together we will see and traverse the universe.
There are many wonders to behold,
Your spirit will soar.
You will partake in all the wisdom
That has been gathered from the beginning of time.
The stars will be your playgrounds.
You can play with the animals,
Be with your loved ones,
Listen to the greatest opera,
Stage or musical performances,
Or you can just relax next to a bubbling brook
And enjoy the scenery.
You feel no pain, despair,
Heartache, or negative emotions.
You are now One with me.
You are with the Intelligent Designer
You are with God my child.

This sounds like how many people view Deism.

If it turns out that there is a God, I don't think that he's evil. But the worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever.

"Our greatest challenge today...is to couple conviction with doubt. By conviction, I mean some pragmatically developed faith, trust, or centeredness; and by doubt I mean openness to the ongoing changeability, mystery, and fallibility of the conviction."

Self Evident Truth is one Thing and Truth the result of Reasoning is another thing. Rational Truth is not the Truth of Christ, but of Pilate. It is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
-----William Blake 1798

Intuitive, self-evident, axiomatic truth is what we all should agree on. Reasoning, though, is necessary to extract some truth from those things we disagree on---including other people's axioms. I happen to like the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.

If God did not exist it would be necessary to invent Him. But all nature cries aloud that He does exist; that there is a supreme intelligence, an immense power, an admirable order, and everything teaches us our own dependence on it.
-----Voltaire 1770

Wiki:
Like many other key figures during the European Enlightenment, Voltaire considered himself a Deist. He did not believe that absolute faith, based upon any particular or singular religious text or tradition of revelation, was needed to believe in God. In fact, Voltaire's focus was instead on the idea of a universe based on reason and a respect for nature reflected the contemporary pantheism, increasingly popular throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and which continues in a form of deism today known as "Voltairean Pantheism."

<< When thus reflecting, I feel compelled to look to a First Cause having an intelligent mind in some degree analogous to that of man, and I deserve to be called a Theist . . . . >>
----Charles Darwin, Autobiography

Despite the Theistic compulsion, Darwin's doubts forced him to remain Agnostic.
Perhaps a Deistic compulsion would better coexist with his scientific worldview.

From the unknown came I
To the unknown I go
Twixt then and then, by and by
My task is this : to know.

    Mindful
    by Mary Oliver

    Every day
      I see or hear
        something
          that more or less

    kills me
      with delight,
        that leaves me
          like a needle

    in the haystack
      of light.
It was what I was born for -

Excerpt from; The black river of loss
    by Mary Oliver

    To live in this world
    you must be able
    to do three things:
    to love what is mortal;
    to hold it
    against your bones knowing
    your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
    to let it go.

“When it's over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.”

“To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work”

Universal Religion

<< All the philosophers of the world who had a religion have said in all ages : "There is a God: and one must be just". That then is the universal religion established in all ages and throughout mankind. The point in which they all agree is threfore true, and the systems through which they differ therefore false. >>
----Voltaire, on "Sect"

He also said, "there are no sects in geometry". So it might behoove a Deist religion to aspire to the unity of mathematics, rather than the diversity of myths.
