I found the quote below:

Changing perspective. To understand the nature of human ignorance, it is necessary to undergo a fundamental change in our perspective. To do this, we need to disentangle ourselves from beliefs we live by that have been established through words and experience life directly. Our intellectual lives, permeated with ideas expressed in language, are the chief obstacle to wisdom.

It sure seems true to me that if we could let go of our Western religious beliefs, we'd have a much more direct contact with the world as it is. I suppose many deists have done that already. We've let go of doctrines and dogmas and commandments and dedicated "human ignorance," haven't we?
