How, why and when do we give each other compliments?
I think....
Sometimes
people compliment another person because they agree with them. Or they
do something they think is "proper." Like telling someone they're smart
because they get what you're saying. Or saying they're a good person
because they followed a principle you believe in.
Sometimes
people compliment another person because they're very talented at their
craft. Like a mechanic, waitress or performer.
There are others (like my boss) who think compliments are ways for people to suck up to get what they want.
Any other thoughts about this?
